Buster: The Great Jump-sby

As the countryside bathes in the golden glow of this week's unseasonably warm weather, Buster and I have embarked on our daily dog walks along the serene pathways of the outskirts of Harrogate. There's something undeniably charming about walking alongside my big soft boy, Buster a Staffy cross with a heart as vast as the Yorkshire Dales, he wags his tail with such enthusiasm that his back end wiggles too.

The Fast and the Fur-ious: Frank’s Recall Adventures

Ah, a sunny February afternoon in Killinghall near Harrogate. The air crisp but with the hint of Spring coming round the corner, the sun shining making everything seem better —it's the perfect setting for Frank, a pint-sized whirlwind disguised as a brown Cocker Spaniel, to put his recall skills to the test. Or, as Frank sees it, time to audition for "Catch Me If You Can: Dog Edition." Equipped with optimism and a pouch full of treats that smell like they could summon a wolf pack, I venture over to the fields near Franks home, hoping this time Frank might actually, you know, *listen*. Drizzle and double trouble!

If ever there was a day made for adventure (and by adventure, I mean tiptoeing around muddy puddles), it was a drizzly February afternoon in Knaresborough. With Phoebe, the lady of the leash with a bark much worse then her bite, and George, the canine embodiment of a teddy bear, in tow, we set off along the riverside. While George trotted calmly beside me, looking up at me hopefully for a yummy treat to appear in my hand.

Bella and the Need for Spin

Meet Bella, the brown and white Border Collie who has a flair for spinning round at the sight and sound of Harrogates busy traffic, which is a fairly common behavioural issue for Border Collies. Bella’s lively spirit is undeniable, but her fear of the busy Harrogate roads can lead to bouts of dizzying circles that leave her more disoriented than a compass with a missing needle. Her owner Chris quickly realized that something had to be done to help Bella overcome this anxious behaviour. That’s when we decided to employ positive reinforcement through her favourite thing in the world—treats!

Dog Walking with Amie

On a drizzly February afternoon, I took Amie, a lively Border Collie, for a walk through the charming streets of Harrogate. As the light rain created a gentle mist over the town, we started our adventure at the Valley Gardens. Amie, ever the curious explorer, eagerly sniffed at the damp ground, her tail wagging with excitement. The rain-enhanced atmosphere gave the park a serene and almost magical quality, with early spring flowers beginning to peek through the frost. We meandered through the winding paths, passing by the iconic Sun Pavilion and the historic Colonnades, which looked even more enchanting under the soft veil of rain.
